Functional Skill Requirements

·         proven minimum decade experience in engaging with governing bodies advising government bodies on research and advocacy, legal and regulatory affairs, developing public/private partnerships and communications

 Purpose of Role

The position will report to the Trustee & Vice President – Knowledge & Partnerships, Ms. Poonam Sewak, and report with regular fortnight updates.

Position Background

The position has been specifically designed to meet the donor project requirements that require scale up of small water enterprises in urban cities across India and position the organization as Drinking Water Sector Knowledge Expert and support fund raising. The incumbent will be required to develop, maintain and strengthen working relationships with key partners, including national ministries, state governments, local, international organizations and other donors, private sector, NGOs, universities and the media to increase synergy and promote the SWE drinking water sector. The candidate will represent Safe Water Network India with the senior government officials in India and also globally. The incumbent will also be responsible for organize workshops and webinars for skilling at periodic intervals.

Key Responsibilities

1.     Building and maintaining strategic partnerships

2.     Provide time-to-time guidance and policy inputs to unlock institutional and funding constraints in small water enterprises to the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Niti Aayog, Jal Shakti Ministry and other related Government Ministries at the centre and States as well as Urban Local Bodies

3.     Review, develop, and implement suggestive policy changes and strategies for expansion of for small water enterprises (safe water stations/ATMs) as complementary solution to the Government’s piped water supply

4.     Develop internal and external communications for Safe Water Network India with sector stakeholders in project states

5.     Support meetings of Safe Water Network India and Senior executives with the Heads of Governments, ministries, high level officials and senior representatives at district, state and central levels

6.     Develop partnerships with Skill Development Centres and undertake skilling in the designated states and cities

7.    Organize high profile workshops, roundtable and webinars with senior government officials and key sector stakeholders

Position Background

This support staff position has been specifically designed to assist in meeting the donor project requirements. The work entails liaising with the Urban Local Bodies in designated cities. The incumbent will be responsible for all research-based activities pertaining to the project, on behalf of Safe Water Network India and participate in both primary as well as secondary-based research in the assigned cities of the project. The incumbent will support the Senior WASH Policy Adviser in report, policy document preparation, organize workshops and webinars at periodic intervals across the designated cities / states, in coordination with the Head Office team.

The position will work under and report to the Head Knowledge Manager Ms Pooja Singh under the donor project directly and will work as needed with the entire team.

Key Responsibilities

1.     Undertake research and develop report in making suggestive policy changes and strategies in favour of creating an enabling environment for small water enterprises (safe water stations/ATMs) as complementary solution to the Government’s piped water supply

2.     Undertake systematic and other reviews of key topics in WASH and environmental health, including on emerging issues

3.     Assist in developing internal and external communications for Safe Water Network India

4.     Support meetings of Safe Water Network India and Senior executives with the Heads of Governments, ministries, high level officials and senior representatives at district, state and central levels

5.     Support in all research and administrative tasks in development of Skill Development Centres in the designated states and cities

6.     Support in capacity-build and skill-based training sessions in periodic intervals

7.     Conduct necessary research related to building institutional and government structure in drinking water sector

8.     Oversee the design and implementation of the policy in drinking water

Functional Skill Requirements

·         Master’s qualification in public health, public health engineering or related disciplines from a reputed University

·         At least 7-8 years of related experience in WASH with excellent sector knowledge, domain expertise, report writing and project management.

·         Knowledge of technical writing requirements

·         Knowledge of the principles, terminology, and methodology of water sector content

·         Excellent technical writing and editing skills

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Strong knowledge of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) issues

·         Ability to analyze and synthesize knowledge (inputs) into high quality reports / field insights

·         Ability to successful collaborate with others and work in teams, especially under pressure

·         Preferred: Strong prior experience managing or coordinating proposals for USAID-funded and/or other US government-funded opportunities

 

Position Background

The position will serve as a technical writer in WASH with a special focus on drinking water and improved health for specific project requirements, spanning a wide range of geographical contexts. S/he will work collaboratively with the Delhi office team and report to Ms Pooja Singh, Head Knowledge manager position designed under the current donor project.

Key Responsibilities

1.     Serve as technical WASH writer for donor project requirements: policy, social, legal, regulatory

2.     Facilitate technical design sessions in order to set proposal strategy and criteria for successful development of sector assessment / reports / field insights

3.     Collect, integrate, and assure the quality of technical specialists and/or consultant contributions

4.     Support in development of assessment report sections as per project requirements and as per key topics in WASH and environmental health, including on emerging issues

5.     Develop policy-based / technical internal and external communications, as maybe needed

6.     Review, revise, and copy-edit sections of assessment reports, and integrate, as maybe needed

7.     Review, revise, edit, and improve the quality of materials written for donor projects

8.     Participate in technical reviews and incorporate feedback in a timely manner

9.     Review and integrate all background materials to ensure that the content written is compliant with all technical and formatting requirements of the donor

10.  Support the preparation and delivery of writing needed for annual conferences / seminars / workshops

 

11.  Liaise and coordinate with Delhi team, consultants, and partners to get/seek clear, complete, and timely inputs / feedback

Purpose of Role

The Database Administrator (DBA) would play a key role in providing necessary technical support to ensure systems consistency with maintenance of databases while following specific coding standards. As a passionate, self-motivated IT professional, DBA will be responsible for collaborating with both internal and external users, understanding and documenting user requirements, defining system functionality and writing code in open source technologies (LAMP). 

The position reports to the IT Head.

Key Responsibilities

·       Documentation (Database Design, Integration Design)

·       Design, develop, maintain the stable, reliable and effective databases

·       Optimize and maintain legacy systems

·       Set and maintain Database standards and manage secure access to the Database

·       Modify databases according to requests and perform tests

·       Monitor, troubleshoot and debug databases to solve performance issues

·       Improve applications and establish best practices

·       Gather user requirements and implement new features

·       Ensure all database programs meet Organization and performance requirements

Qualifications and Skills
