Community Mobilization and Demand Generation

This module describes the strategies, tactics and the challenges involved in mobilizing the communities to create WASH awareness about the benefits of consuming safe drinking water, keeping good hygiene and adopting sanitation best practices. The tools in this module describe the various approaches and mediums to influence people at a community level about the hazards of drinking impure water and encourage them the start consuming safe drinking water.

Tool 13

Social Mobilization and Consumer Activation

This tool helps in spreading the awareness in the community about the need for and adoption of safe water through the engagement of key opinion leaders in the community. It also helps in addressing the myths to promote the Small Water Enterprise and deliver valuable health-focused messages in the community, including Mohalla meetings and door-to-door campaigns. Different medium is used to promote safe water in the community and in schools, such as marketing spiels on tablets, electrolyser water quality test demos, competitions organized for school children, among others.

WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) IEC for Communities and Schools

This tool guides in effective implementation of WASH program under four significant phases. It trains the WASH ambassador and communities through four different training sub-modules. Human Body and Importance of Water, Source Safety and Water Security, Water Quality, Hand Washing And Hygiene, DIY Consumer Activation
