Uptime Global – SWE Audit Report
Safe Water Network’s service model is suitable for results-based contracting. Their iJal stations utilize a proprietary automated payment collection and water dispensing system, with robust quality control processes that ensure data regarding technical operations are highly accurate. Furthermore, consumers are satisfied with the service and have stressed the importance of the stations for their health and livelihoods.
INDIA – No conditions are identified for Safe Water Network to continue in a results-based contract. However, several operational recommendations have been suggested upon completion of site visits in December 2023: 1) (Maharashtra) Re-examine potential for “entrepreneur” service models to pay monthly operations and sustainability fees to Safe Water Network as well as adopt some of the impactful marketing and communications strategies of Self Help Groups. Kiosks managed by Self Help Groups, which appear to operate in more financially challenging and vulnerable areas, are reportedly paying Safe Water Network a base operations and sustainability fee of 2600 ₹ (>$30 USD) monthly. 2) (Telangana) Cross-pollinate ideas and approaches from high performing kiosks to those that are underperforming.
